India and Australia ready to fight for Final berth
Skipper Mithali Raj wants her team to play their best as cricketers to win the match.

Alex Blackwell said she is “very impressed with the way India have played” this World Cup tournament. The Australian Vice-captain thinks team India have a “more aggressive” approach in batting. These comments came out at the onset of the second semi-final between India and Australia in the tournament. Blackwell is correct on Mithali Raj’s approach to batting aggression of her team. Top players like Smriti Mandhana, Punam Raut and Raj herself has scored substantial runs.

However, India’s consistency in batting seems questionable. Mandhana became silent since last four matches, while Raut did not score good runs in five innings. India’s batting odds are being countered with Mithali Raj’s consistency and a strong support of the middle and lower order. Veda Krishnamurthy’s 45 ball 70 was the crucial bet in the team’s entry to semi-final. Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma has been equally important in the batting line-up.

Meanwhile, Australia has won six matches out of seven in the tournament. This feat makes it the favorite team of the season. India certainly will require more than what they have so far, as Captain Raj has already realized. The team is with a strong consistency in the top order. Beth Mooney, Nicole Bolton, captain Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry has been enough to win all their chase and challenge any team with a formidable score. Only containing this line-up will ensure India success in the upcoming match. As Mithali Raj said, her team will need to play as best they can as cricketers.

India’s prime defense is Rajeshwari Gayakwad. She will be the key for India in the tournament. The bowler has already displayed her might against New Zealand. On the other side, Australia is bolstered with Jess Jonassen, Ashleigh Gardner and Kristen Beams, the spinners, who has been the fiercest attack this season. Furthermore, Aussie bowlers has good records to back them, which is lacking in India’s.

Australia has one disadvantage in the match. It is the ground. It will the team’s maiden match in Derby. The ground, in contrast, is advantageous for India. The fact that India won all the four matches it played in Derby this season, could come up as the jinx for Australia. India’s spin attack, in particular, have been highly intensive on this pitch.
