The Ashes series after the second match of the current is now at an interesting figure. After Australia won the second test, the host is ahead in the series by 2-0. But it is the entire tally that is eye-catching. Ashes series is now locked at 32-32 after 135 years of the game. Earlier in 1997, this tally levelled at 27-27 for the teams. As per historic records, after losing the first two matches of the series, a team rarely came out to dominate the game. It happened only once in the tournament’s history when Australia won the series after losing the first two games, back in 1936-37 season. In the series Don Brandman was an Aussie hero who salvaged the team with his consecutive century knocks.
Mitchell Marsh has a change to get back into the team as a bowler in the next match. The WACA ground is supposed to be a bowling pitch and both teams will seek to strengthen their own sides. The player is expected to replace Peter Handscomb. In the previous Test, Craig Overton, the debutant, wreaked into Aussie’s batting line up, while knocking high runs in the next. His first test wicket was Steven Smith, the skipper. He is a player on spotlight for England at WACA. The visitors would fight without much changes in the team. The match has a relevance for Alastair Cook, being his 150th Test.
Perth is expected to produce a quicker pitch. Also, the forecast signed some rain on the latter days of the Test. The ground is not that conducive for Australia, that won only a single of last four test matches they played. However, they won against England in their only victory. Steven Smith is confident and expecting a “not as hard” game. Still the skipper is cautions. While, Joe Root commented it is his job as a captain to concentrate and make sure to get things right while playing. He said, he is trying to develop a team that can achieve success and do special things.
