The last ODI of any series become a centerfold of attraction if they transpire as the decisive match for the series winner. But the match in Eden Park, between South Africa and New Zealand have a bit more to add to the excitement. If on one side there is AB de Villiers who has been consistent throughout the series, on the side, there is Martin Guptill, who ravaged in Hamilton. Furthermore, both the sides have exposed their limitations. The match is definitely going to be a fierce fight. In ODI, New Zealand is a raising giant. Prior to this, the team toppled Australia and the on-going campaign against South Africa is strong. The match in Eden Park will also point out the teams for the upcoming Champion Trophy.
The concern for South Africa is the wobbly middle order batting so far. While, for New Zealand, bowling options as well as fielding has been the trouble. The wicket-keeping position is also an issue. In Wellington, the team was bowled out for 112, but their comeback in the next inning was momentous as a challenge for South Africa. For the visitors, it would be a crucial to build a substantial game-plan to contain Guptill, to get a good hold of the decisive match. Bowlers like Tim Southee could come out as devastating options against South Africa. In previous matches, he has been the prime attack on proteas batsman.
Apart from all odds, skipper de Villiers is clearly holding a strong vigilance in his batting as well as captainship. He has been waiting for an opportunity in a place like Eden Park. The T20 showdown was striking and if South Africa takes a similar stance in the ODI as well, New Zealand might face a similar fate to that of the short format series. The home team is trying to boost with Matt Henry added newly to the squad. He will be a good support for spinner Jeetan Patel to attack the visitors. South Africa too, might replace some of its batsmen and bowlers.
