In Group D of currently ongoing Ranji Trophy Himachal Pradesh played an intensive fixture against Punjab. In Himachal inning, the high score from Prashant Chopra stole the show. The player scored 338 runs, a massive triple century in the first inning. He was awarded Player of the Match. In the first inning Himachal Pradesh scored 729 runs. Punjab scored 601 runs in a reply. Punjab's inning too was bolstered with a double century from Abhishek Gupta. The batsman scored 202 runs. Gupta and Abhishek Sharma partnered for 239 runs in the chase. The inning was struck by Gurvinder Singh, the off spinner from Himachal Pradesh. The bowler removed 6 wickets in the inning for 162 runs. The match was drawn.
The match between Bengal and Services is also drawn. Bengal scored 552 runs and 161 runs in its innings. While, Services scored 359 and 212 runs in reply. It was Vikas Hathwala, who struck a half century to draw the match. In the second inning, Services chased 355, but its batsmen could not put up good scores. Meanwhile, Bengal attacked the team with spells from Mohammed Shami, Ashok Dinda and Kanishk Seth. The only partnership in Services' inning was that between Hathwala and Muzzaffaruddin Khalid. It was for 75 runs, that saved the team from losing the match.
Chhattisgarh and Goa too drew the match after a strong showdown from the players from both the squad. In the match, Sumit Ruikar, the Chhattisgarh bowler had a 10-wickets haul. This is his maiden record in first class cricket. The left arm spinner was the main strikers against Goa in the final day of the match. The team scored 223 runs for 4 wickets in the fourth day. In the last day of the match, Goa lost six wickets at morning session. There was a short partnership of 54 runs between Sumiran Amonkar and Darshan Misal, but it could not make the team win. Chhattisgarh scored 458 runs in the single inning while Goa batted for 277 and 170 playing two innings.
