In times when India Skipper Virat Kohli as well as coach Ravi Shastri openly supported Dhoni’s approach and form, Sourav Ganguly, former captain of India commented, the player should change his batting approach in T20 to be successful. Ganguly praised Dhoni’s form in ODI but the senior cricketer is also expecting record breaking feats from the player in T20 format.
Ganguly pointed out that Dhoni’s record is “not good” in T20 compared to ODIs. He also indicated the team management to approach the player personally. The senior member of Cricket Advisory Committee lauded Dhoni citing his immense ability. However, he added, the batsman will be successful in the shortest format only if he changes the approach. Ganguly wanted Dhoni to “play freely” in the format.
While, Dhoni said the process is more important than the results. Dhoni, regarded as one of the most successful captains of India, had a simple and plain response. He indicated his personal views deserves respect. Personally, the player views cricket as his life. The player regards sports as a way to learn about life. He said, there will be criticism and disappointments are common, emphasizing the need to learn improve. He said, “everybody has views in life and it should be respected.” Dhoni posed playing for the country as his strongest motivation. Per the player, he is satisfied if can realize he did the best.
Recently, Dhoni lunched a Cricket Academy in Dubai. In T20, his batting position is being compromised to the lower middle order. The cricketer delivered several match-winning performances at the position. In the series against Sri Lanka, Dhoni contribution as a batsman was immense. The player has lost some of his early hitting prowess, but his tactics and game strategy beat out the bests in opponents. He also achieved a record in stumping lately.
