Delhi Daredevils has been tough with their efforts. They have changed strategies as well as their captains without luck. The management even went on to bring Rahul Dravid for enlightenment, but it did not bring any better result. Since the first season of IPL tournament, the team has been through average performances even with big combinations like Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir.
Later on, when Sehwag dropped himself from cricket, Gambhir too made his leeway to Kolkata Knight Riders. With the duo gone, Delhi Daredevils depended on Yuvraj Singh, but it did not pay off well. Delhi Daredevils have been trying hard to breakthrough into the tournament and the saga is still alive.
For IPL 2018 tournament, Daredevils will have an additional thrust. This season, their former captain Gautam Gambhir is back to the team from Kolkata Knight Riders. Gambhir is the player leading Knight Riders to lift the title for two seasons. There is no reason to be skeptical about his leadership role.
Earlier, Gambhir expressed after winning for KKR that his “heart” was still with Daredevils, being a Delhi lad. Apart from bringing back Gambhir, the team also came up with strong combination of domestic and international players. While on one side they roped in the likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Prithvi Shaw, Delhi Daredevils also bought players like Kagiso Rabada, Colin Munro and Glenn Maxwell.
The team’s batting line up is bolstered with Gambhir, Jason Roy, Colin Munro at the top. Glenn Maxwell is expected to pair up with domestic young bets like Rishabh Pant and Iyer in the middle order. Daredevils also came up with allrounders like Daniel Christian and Vijay Shankar as finishing bets in the batting line-up. In bowling, Shahbaz Nadeem, Amit Mishra and Jayant Yadav are the prime spearhead. These would feature spin as top attack for the team this season. Daredevils have also pulled up Sandeep Lamichhane as a frontline bowler to represent Nepal for the first time in IPL.
