Daredevils at its lowest, Kings XI Punjab topples Delhi batsmen
Martin Guptill hauls the delivery to the boundary for his half century presenting the defeat to Delhi Daredevils.

It might have been one of the worst day for Delhi Daredevils. They became the team with a record worst first inning score in IPL at the match against Kings XI Punjab. All their batsmen could do is score 67, while they could not even sustain for the 20-over inning. Delhi was all out at 17.1 overs. Kings XI Punjab scaled up the runs batting for 7.5 overs. It was Game Over for Delhi in 32 mins. For the score, only Glenn Maxwell was enough. The opener scored a 27 ball 50.

It was Sandeep Sharma who wrecked Delhi Daredevils taking down opening wickets. It was his enterprise that created the havoc plummeting Delhi to 22 for 3 in 4.6 overs, with the wicket of his third victim, Shreyas Iyer. Sharma took down 4 wickets for 20 in the match, his career best. Sandeep Sharma has achieved one of the best figures in IPL. In powerplay 114 balls he delivered, 62 are dots. This makes him the most efficient powerplay bowler in the whole tournament. He set off the slide in Delhi’s inning taking the early wickets. Only three players could score double digit runs, Corey Anderson’s 18 being the highest.

Axar Patel toppled a wicket in the first ball he delivered. He removed Karun Nair, the stand-in captain of the team. With Glenn Maxwell, Patel bowled eight overs, which came out as one of the most economic spells of 34 runs in the stretch. Maxwell achieved his best figures of 1 for 12 bowling four overs. In 10 overs Delhi scored 37 losing 6 wickets. In the inning lasting 17.1 overs, the batsmen smashed five boundaries.

In reply, Punjab batsman Guptill posed his 32nd T20 fifty. The match came out as the shortest IPL match in history. Only 150 balls were delivered in the match. Delhi was at the bottom of the point chart even before the match started. Now it is also slogging on slow points.
