Dhananjaya de Silva also assisted him, scoring an unbeaten 55 runs to take Sri Lanka to a respectable score.
In reply, Bangladesh got off to a poor start as Shakib’s poor form continued and he was dismissed on just four. Mosaddek and Mahmudullah took the charge but it was not enough as they were bundled out on 189 in 42.3 overs.
I never give up, I enjoy the responsibility: Mushfiqur Rahim
Post the match, Rahim was awarded the player of the series award for his stellar performances in the first two ODIs. In the series, he emerged as the leading run-getter, scoring 237 runs at an average of just below 80.
During the presentation ceremony, he spoke about handling pressure and taking the responsibility to score runs for the team. “The boys worked really hard for the series. Last few months we haven’t played our best cricket but we executed our plans well in the first two games this series,” he said.
“If you play international cricket for 15 years, you need to contribute more and more. Sri Lanka aren’t an easy side to score against, they like to come hard against us, they never give up. I enjoy (the responsibility), whenever there is pressure on me, I like to stay calm. It gives me the urge to do well.”
