The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a huge squad for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) Final and five-match Test series against England. The board named a 20-member squad which will travel to England on June 2 and will first play the World Test Championship Final against New Zealand from June 18 and will then stay in England for 40 days before playing the Test series. In the squad, there were a few surprising omissions. Firstly, the axing of talented opener Prithvi Shaw, and reports reveal that his name wasn’t even discussed in the selection meeting and then the omission of India’s swing king Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, which thought to be due to his injuries and keeping him fresh for the mega T20 World Cup later.
After the squad was announced, fans were unhappy with the surprising omission of Prithvi Shaw, who was unfairly dropped in Australia after failing in just two innings. Since then, Shaw’s progress has experienced an exponential rise in white-ball cricket, however, his lack of practice with the red ball, may have led to his axing.
In the IPL 2021 too, Shaw was on a run-hitting spree as he single-handedly won matches on tough pitches. His unreal smashing at Chepauk, a pitch where many world-class batsmen struggled to find time, proved the kind of touch he is in. While some people had explanations for his omission, others backed him and lashed out at the selectors, stating that Shaw’s ‘Comeback is always greater than Setback’. Here are the best of them:
Comeback will be greater than the setback

Look the difference between Cover Drive of Prithvi Shaw and of Shubhman Gill .
Shaw’s feet is more close to ball on 5th stump line
While Gill’s feet is in middle stump line and he’s trying to reach the ball with hand

No Bhuvneshwar Kumar, no Hardik Pandya – most likely due to their fitness issues.
No Prithvi Shaw – Dukes perhaps? https://t.co/lKCuJud0aC

2 things clear from the selection meeting
1. Prithvi Shaw as of now is not in selection loop as far as Test cricket is concerned.
2. Hardik Pandya is not playing Test cricket in near or distant future. Perhaps never again. We will see a pure hard-hitting white ball player may be

It’s so unfair that Prithvi Shaw is not selected despite his record breaking season. But but but he was dropped after failing in few innings in alien conditions. Such double standards man. U guys r breaking a future player man..rather than grooming him.

RT if u agree that @PrithviShaw Shaw should be included in India playing XI across all the formats. He is probably the best batsmen right now.

Why shubhman gill has been picked ahead of Prithvi Shaw ….we all saw prithavi in vijay Hazare and ipl as well ..he is performing exceptionally well ….I don’t understand why he is not in the squad

Might get dragged for it but Prithvi Shaw has better footwork and feet movement than Shubhman Gill and has more chances to succeed in England .
