When it comes to social media and posting funny memes related to cricket, there’s no one better than former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer, who has a meme for every situation in world cricket. However, these days, Dinesh Karthik has upgraded his ‘meme game’ on social media and has been challenging Wasim Jaffer.
India are currently about to clash with New Zealand in the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) Final, but the rain gods haven’t been showing mercy today. The play was scheduled to start at 3 pm IST, but owing to persistent rain since yesterday night, the start has been delayed.
Test cricket completed 144 years in 2021 but the format hasn’t seen any Test champion. Thus, the WTC Final between India and New Zealand will give the sport its first World Test Champion. The Final will be a five-day affair, with a sixth day acting as a reserve for rain stoppages.
The weather in England has maintained its reputation of being unpredictable over the years. And yet again, on the eve of the biggest ever Test match in the history of cricket, it started pouring down. The rain continued throughout the night, making the outfield soaking wet. The weather didn’t improve in the morning of the match as the rain kept getting heavier. Thanks to the reserve day and a better forecast on the remaining days, the one-off Final isn’t much affected.
Thus, fans and many former cricketers have been sharing quite funny content on social media and Wasim Jaffer and Dinesh Karthik have been entertaining fans, who have been frustrated with the rain delay. Today, Jaffer posted a meme asking Dinesh Karthik, who’s currently in Southampton for the WTC Final as a commentator, about the rain situation.
Jaffer’s meme quoted: “The nation wants to know, when will it stop raining in Southampton.” In reply, Dinesh Karthik posted a meme from an Indian movie, which read: “Saturday ko aana haan,” meaning ‘Come on Saturday to play’.
Here’s their hilarious conversation:
