Afghanistan’s leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who is known for his mystery bowling, is currently holidaying in Dubai following the suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Earlier this month, the cash rich league was postponed indefinitely owing to a COVID-19 outbreak in the bio bubble of many teams. Since then, all foreign players have flown out of India and some have even returned home.
Rashid Khan spends his holidays in Dubai
Rashid Khan, on the other hand, has traveled to Dubai for some holidays, instead of going to his home country Afghanistan. The 22-year-old also shared some pictures of him chilling out in the middle-east nation. Celebrating Eid, Rashid wrote: “Let’s go and have fun #EidMubarak.”
After seeing this post, England women’s cricketer Dani Wyatt, who is often seen having a conversation with Rashid Khan on social media, commented and asked: “Can I have a go please?”
Will Rashid Khan miss the second leg of IPL 2021?
While the BCCI’s priority is to conduct the reminder of IPL 2021, as the other case will result in a heavy financial loss, some of the foreign cricketers have international commitments, which will lead to them missing the second leg, if it is conducted in an unfavorable window.
The BCCI is looking at the September window, before the T20 World Cup but with the rising COVID-19 cases in India, the IPL will be conducted in either UAE or any other country. Recently, the England Cricket Board (ECB) made it clear that English cricketers have a packed schedule and they will miss the second leg irrespective of the window.
Moreover, Afghanistan cricket team is scheduled to have a series against Pakistan in September. This will result in Rashid Khan, SunRisers Hyderabad’s premier bowler, missing out the entire second leg. Rashid Khan has picked up 85 wickets across 69 matches in IPL so far at a staggering economy rate of 6.23.
