The Cricket Advisory Committee comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly and VVS Laxman interviewed the candidates shortlisted for the head coach position of team India. Only Phil Simmons was not on the schedule as he was busy in other occasion. However, the Committee is now rolling back to talk to Virat Kohli before announcing the next person for the job. The circumstances leading to the present scenario have good relevance. In fact, Anil Kumble was to continue after the yearlong contract. He resigned from the post stating the glitches of his relationship with team captain Virat Kohli. Kumble was the top contender of the post for his intensive stance to bring out the best in the team, leading it to one of the best Test stretches in history.
Kumble made it clear that his job as the coach is untenable as his relationship with Kohli is beyond repair. This shunned any possibility for Kumble to become the next coach bringing on the perspective of new person on the role. Now, after the interview of the new coach, CAC Member Saurav Ganguly said the committee was not in a hurry to select the coach. The former captain said the committee need more time to speak to Kohli. The panel is most likely to call up India skipper to discuss his approach towards the coach.
The next coach will be selected with an eye to the next world cup season in 2019. Ganguly wants everybody on the same page before any announcement. The former captain said especially the primary players of the team should be on the same page with the coach. Kohli did not have any recommendation of the coach and he wants the procedure to be followed as required. As the Advisory Committee is not at a haste to put up a new coach immediately, team India will be without one for some time. The team will tour Sri Lanka in the last week of the month without a coach.
