Brisbane Heat retains Brandon McCullum for three more seasons
Brendon McCullum is the captain of Brisbane Heat, the BBL franchisee.

Brisbane Heat captain Brendon McCullum had an extension on his contract with the league. The player will be with the team for the next three seasons. The recent contract will bind McCullum with Brisbane Heat until 2019-20 season of BBL. Andrew McShea, General Manager of the franchisee, said that he has “significant” impact on the club, both “on and off the field”. The manager said, his values as a player matches with values of the team. Per McShea, these values are integral, and so is the New Zealand player. He aligned McCullum with the team’s identity, which connects it with fans, members as well as commercial partners.

The former New Zealand captain injured his arms in an early month of the year. He broke his arm in the Caribbean Premier League. In the tournament, he represented Trinbago Kinght Riders. McCullum was under treatment keeping away from the game for several months. His return was in the recently concluded tournament in Bangladesh. In the league he played for Rangpur Riders, the winners of the title. Daniel Vettori, coach of Brisbane Heat accoladed his innings at BPL. He said McCullum’s “last three or four innings in Bangladesh were impressive”. Vettori further added, the player had an “excellent recovery from the broken arm.”

BBL will start shortly and Brisbane Heat will have their first match in Wednesday. Per coach Vettori, the team will hit the preparation for the tournament. Earlier in October, the team included Chis Lynn for five years. Per team manager McShea, the year has been an important one for Brisbane Heat as several players were re-entered through long term contracts. He mentioned Lynn as of such “long term deals.” Brisbane Heat has players like Ben Cutting, Matt Renshaw and Alex Ross as notable players from international circuit. Chris Lynn and Brandon McCullum are certainly the top names in the squad.
