Ben Dunk, the top batsman from Tasmania signed up with Melbourne Stars. The top cricketer is in contract with the franchisee for two years. He plays as an opener specialist batsman in the shortest format of the game. In the previous season Ben Dunk emerged as the star batsman with the top aggregate score in the tournament. He tallied a total of 364 runs in BBL season 2016-2017. In the season, he played for Adelaide Strikers. Dunk was also played for Hobart Hurricanes in a previous season of the tournament. The batsman is an international player and has played five matches in the shortest format.
The player is excited to join the Melbourne Stars. He termed it as a 'great opportunity' to work with players like Stephen Fleming and John Hastings. He wants his side to lift the title looking forward to joining it. Meanwhile, Trent Woodhill, director of Melbourne Stars welcomed the player saying the 'secure experience' he has is 'exciting.' He is expecting Dunk to bolster an already strong batting line up.
Dunk played the latest T20 International against Sri Lanka in the latest 2017 tour of Australia. It was his performance in BBL that earned an international call for him. His early record includes a single-handed score of 229 in an ODI inning. Back in 2014, October, he hammered the score in the match between Tasmania and Queensland for the former. He was first player in domestic One-day of Australia to hit a double century.
Another player joining the team are paceman Jackson Coleman, from Victoria. Woodhill called him a 'young talent'. He said, Coleman will offer an extended bowling option. The bowler is a debutant in the circuit. He plays for Victoria in domestic circuit. In the previous season, he was a replacement player for Hasting.
