BCCI expensed INR 4 Crore as allowances with Zero result
Secretary Amitabh Choudhary received an amount of INR 92, 72,519 from BCCI in two years.

The fifth status report of the BCCI Committee of Administrators revealed jaw dropping figures of perks and allowances of the BCCI's office bearers. In the previous two years, an amount of INR 4 crores is being spent on these officials. The status report revealed that on allowances of only four office bearers BCCI spent INR 1.87 crores. CoA’s concern is not the amount which was expensed. The primary issue here is the fact that these office bearers did not implement the Lodha Panel’s recommendation, for which they were appointed. It means, the amount is a total loss for BCCI. After two years of tussle, the office bearers are removed with an order from Supreme Court.

The office bearers are not entitled to salary because they hold honorary posts. The three senior officials of BCCI including the president, acting secretary and the treasurer as well as the former president received the bulk of payments from BCCI. The top beneficiaries are CK Khanna, the acting president, Amitabh Choudhary, the acting secretary and Anirudh Chaudhry, the treasurer. The report also stated expenditures on former president of BCCI, Anurag Thakur.

Expenditures among the officials are varied with most being siphoned to secretary Amitabh Choudhary. A whopping amount of INR 92, 72,519 or USD 144,657 was expensed on Choudhary. Treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry’s expenditure was INR 17, 99,982 or USD 111,997. CK Khanna, the president, had an expenditure of INR 4, 86,755 as an allowance for the only overseas trip he had. He went to England for Champions Trophy. Anurag Thakur received an amount of INR 17, 99,982 or USD 28,080 during his tenure as the president. Furthermore, all allowances are tax free.

Per BCCI rules, for every working day, an office bearer is paid INR 20,000. For board meetings, this allowance burgeons to INR 30,000 each day. When officials are on overseas trip, they are entitled to any allowance of USD750 for a day. It is only the in-hand amount excluding other expenses on other allowances. Secretary Choudhary’s expenses on other allowances were much higher. As Stay Charges, the secretary claimed INR 13, 51,061 and as other expenses, his claim was INR 3, 93,319. In comparison, treasurer Chaudhry’s compensation only on phone bill was INR 2, 37,145. His Stay Charges was INR 11, 03,893 and INR 3, 41,603 was accounted as Other Expenses.
