BCCI, especially the Committee of Administration is hastened up to conclude the current impasse of coach selection. On the other hand, the Cricket Advisory Committee headed by Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly and VVS Laxman wanted to wait some more on the selection. The committee wants to talk to skipper Virat Kohli regarding his approach as the coach they will select is most likely to continue until the World Cup 2019 season.
Per Ganguly, the committee wants the primary players of the team, including the captain and the coach to be on a same page, so that further possibilities of tussle between coach and the captain are avoided. The present glitch in relationship between Kohli and Kumble is fairly apparent, which ultimately ended as the selection of new coach of the team.
In contrast to the Advisory Committee’s approach of allowing some time to settle, the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administration wants the coach named by July 11. The interview of five candidates for the head coach position was held on July 10 and the Advisory Committee is also reported to have selected the new coach. However, they wanted to meet team captain Kohli and explain how the coaches want to function. Gunguly said the committee will “explain him that the coaches want to function in a certain way.” The committee wanted “everybody on the same page.” They emphasized on the mediation as the present coach is selected for the upcoming World Cup season.
The Committee of Administration wants the selected candidate to be named immediately. This has overturned CAC’s stance on the selection of coach. Head of the Administration Committee, ex-CAG Vinod Rai is reported to have asked BCCI to name the head coach by evening of July 11, Tuesday. Reportedly, the Mr. Rai spoke to CEO Rahul Johri and Amitabh Chaudhary to follow the instructions and end the business by evening of the day.
