In the latest setback to Pakistan cricket, Bangladesh turned down PCB’s invitation to play a T20 series. Bangladesh refused to tour the nation due to security reasons. The series called for a two-match tour following the ICC Champions League in June. BCB, however, has issues only with the location of the venue and they agreed to play if the matches are moved to neutral ones. PCB also hosted the PSL final at Lahore despite concerns of many cricketers successfully. Chairman of the Board, Shaharyar Khan said international teams responded positively at the PSL match. Pakistan is also scheduling a tour to Bangladesh in July-August of 2017, for a full series.
Khan said that Pakistan has toured Bangladesh in 2015, but Bangladesh did not visit the country since 2008. He made it clear that Pakistan will make a point about compensation as the year’s series hosting the tournament. He also wanted Bangladesh to compensate financially for the July-August tour. Khan further added that India did not honor the MoU to play six bilateral series between 2015 to 2023 and the issue will be discussed with BCCI in the ICC meeting, which will be held in April. He is most likely to press ICC special task force on Pakistan, Giles Clarke, to discuss about the prospects of bilateral series with India.
Since 2009, Pakistan has hosted only one international team. It was only in 2015, when Zimbabwe played a limited over series in the country. Security issues forced Pakistan to play their home seasons at UAE since past few years. After IPL, Pakistan tried to set a home series with West Indies, but met a set back from the team. Indies players refused to tour the country. PCB is trying to get back into the track after being derailed from the platform when militants attacked the Sri Lanka team in Lahore stadium.
