Bangladesh Cricket Board started to push up the form of its team as a preparation for the upcoming tournament against South Africa. Lately, the board announced its 15-member squad for the ODI series. The board introduced debutant Mohammad Saifuddin into the team as the latest international player. The three match ODI series will kick start on October 15. Other players who made it out to the tournament are Nasir Hossain, Liton Kumar Das, Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque. The other players in the squad are unchanged. The players rested from the team are Mossadek Hossain, Shafiul Islam, and Sanjamul Islam.
The members of the team apart from the newly inducted ones are Soumya Sarkar, Masrafe Bin Mortaza at the top batting order. Shakib Al Hassan, the top allrounder is at the helm of the middle order with Shabbir Rahman, Nasir Hossain, and Mushfiqur Rahim. Rahim is the wicket keeper, also handy with the batting line-up. The bowling ensemble comprise of Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Rubel Hossain. The spin department will be under Mehidy Hasan and Rahman.
An inclusion emerging only a little less than a surprise is that of Tamim Iqbal. The player was injured seriously before the second Test against South Africa. He was the opener in the Test team. In fact, it was an aggravation of a previous injury. The player worsened his right thigh trying to take a quick run in the practice match. He was retired hurt from the practice. Iqbal was rested from the second Test at Bloemfontein. The match where he was injured was against the CSA Invitation XI. The fixture was at Benoni.
Iqbal has not recovered fully. In general, such condition requires a rest of at least a month. A long rest would make the player fit, but the time is a constraint in this condition. The batman is already named in the ODI squad. Presently, he is under strict monitoring and rehabilitation.
