Andre Russell back to business after a Year-long ban
Andre Russell is selected to play the 50-over Domestic tournament after completion of his ban.

After a year-long ban Andre Russell will be back to the arena of international cricket. It was back in January 31, 2017, when his ban commenced after a Jamaican tribunal charged him with doping. The player was banned not only from international cricket, but also from any form of cricket both at domestic and global front.

Russell was found guilty for violation of whereabouts clause under World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code. The tribunal that banned the cricketer comprised off Hugh Faulkner, Dr. Marjorie Vassell and former Jamaican cricketer Dixeth Palmer. Russell failed to report his whereabouts on three separate occasions in year 2015.

Lately, Andre Russell was selected by a domestic team to play at a 50-over tournament. Team Jamaica has included the player for the Regional Super50 tournament. He will be featured after a year in the match against Leeward Islands in Antigua. Before being banned, Russell was among the top T20 players in world.

His strong presence in IPL also made Kolkata Knight Riders to retain him for the upcoming season. In the latest IPL auction, he bagged INR 8.5 Cr. to play for the IPL team. The Indies player is also a top overseas player in Pakistan Super League, PSL. He plays for Islamabad United in the tournament.

Due to his PSL commitments, Russell would be absent in the World Cup Qualifier matches. As per a Cricket West Indies release, two players, Darren Bravo and Keiron Pollard, apart from Russell, opted to play PSL instead of the World Cup Qualifier matches.

Russell have been focusing on T20 format since before his ban. It is most likely that the next limited overs tournament he would be playing for West Indies will only come after the IPL season. The batsman is deemed to play a one-day match against England A, alongside West Indies A. His form in the match would his criteria for selection in the scheduled ODI series against Bangladesh.
