Rabada runs pass Anderson becoming top ICC Test bowler
22 Years old Kagiso Rabada became the No. 1 ICC Test bowler after the first Test against India

South Africa’s victorious campaign had more to offer than just the win over India in the first Test. The match was bowler dominated with attacking spells in both the innings and from both the sides. However, Kagiso Rabada had a special feat in the match. The fast bowler became Number 1 in the recently rolled out ICC Test Ranking Chart for bowlers.

In Cape Town, Rabada finished with 5 wickets, following 3 for 34 in first and 2 for 41 in second inning. The 22 years old bowler tallied 888 points running pass James Anderson, by the single mark. The England bowler, on the other hand, reduced his tally by five points at the final Ashes test where he nicked only a single wicket for 56 runs.

The young cricketer referred the moment as a “surreal feeling”. He said, it’s special to be ranked as No. 1 Test bowler of the world. Rabada, being a new sensation in South Africa cricket, said that achieving the top ICC test ranking is a dream when a cricketer just starts playing the game. The bowler thanked his teammates for their support citing cricket as a ‘team sport’. Rabada feels the win against India is a great start for South Africa, hoping more winning performances in future.

Rabada debuted test in 2015 against India when South Africa toured India. Since his debut, the young bowler has been maintaining a strong form throughout all format of the game. In 43 Test innings he played so far, he took 110 wickets at an average of 21.96. In the recent Test, Rabada took down the wicket of Hardik Pandya, who had the best score as an India batsman in the match.

In the match, Vernon Philander struck down nine wickets. The bowler was awarded Player of the Match for his match-winning performance. He scaled 12 spots in the ICC bowler’s chart to secure the 6th place.
