Lately, BCCI confirmed that India team India is set to tour Ireland, for a short schedule clubbed with the team’s England tour. India will tour Ireland for two T20I matches. The matches are scheduled on June 27 and June 29. It would be the first time India will be touring Ireland in almost a decade since 2007. Back in 2007, India played a single ODI in Belfast against the host. Until now, India and Ireland have played only a single T20 match in 2009 version of World Cup. In the match, India won by eight wickets. The team will play the shortest format matches while on the long tour to England.
India will tour England for a full format tournament. Three T20Is, three ODIs and five Tests, will be played within two months. The matches against Ireland are scheduled before the first T20I against England in Manchester. The fixture is scheduled on July 3, setting off the two-months long tournament. The next two T20s will be on July 6 and 8 in Cardiff and Bristol respectively. The ODIs are scheduled in Trent Bridge, Lord’s and Headingley. While, the Test matches will be played in Edgbaston, Lord’s Trent Bridge, Southampton and The Oval.
Currently, India is on tour on South Africa for a full format tournament. After losing the first match of the Test series, the team is trying to re-calibrate its formation with new match-ups. Also, the players are seen practicing harder on nets ahead of the second Test. Four players, Lokesh Rahul, Ajinkya Rahane, Parthiv Patel and Ishant Sharma hit the nets just after the lost venue. These players were not in the primary XI in the first tussle. It is highly probable that team India might include them for the second match.
Additionally, there seem to be a change in the approach to net practice. In the session, Sanjay Bangar, through-down specialist and fielding coach R Sridhar were also seen. There is a possibility of Lokesh Rahul replacing Shikhar Dhawan.
